When I was younger, there was a television show that featured different Japanese origami projects. The host would take a piece of paper and methodically fold it until he revealed a paper crane or owl or butterfly. I loved that show because it transformed simple paper into paper art.

This article discusses a Swedish method of making Pappersskalar or paper bowls. I love these because they’re both creative and practical. You can actually use a paper bowl in small displays.

One of my favorites is the DIY Photo Dot Journal pictured above. You take a journal and decorate the cover with cut-out, round pictures. Then you add some Washi tape for additional color. It’s a totally customized journal for you or someone you like.

These are paper flower bouquets that Jordan of the Oh Happy Day website designed for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Paper flower bouquets are bright, colorful and are allowed in pediatric wards. They’re really cheerful and beautiful.

Jordan’s tutorial includes directions for flowers with a round stamen or a fringe stamen. She explains how to add the petals and stems. There are also some some really helpful photographs.

Aren’t these beautiful? I found these neat DIY paper Christmas ornaments on the How About Orange website. I love them and think they might work beyond the holidays. I could see hanging some on a porch or patio in warmer weather. In a garden? Definitely in a sun room. They’re just too pretty to use just at Christmas.

Jessica provides a template for a large ornament and a small ornament. She has step-by-step directions on how to make the paper ornament. The close-up photographs are excellent.
