I have seen several outdoor, gas fire pits that use fire glass. If you are building or having a gas or propane fire pit installed, this is a method you might want to include.

Fire Glass is made of small, tempered glass. It comes in different colors and shapes. It’s usually used in gas or propane fire pits and fireplaces. It doesn’t burn, and retains heat. The glass glitters and shimmers. What’s really neat in firepits, in particular, is that the flames seem to dance on top of the fire glass. It’s a very neat look, especially at night. Also, because of the heat retention quality, it’s very practical.
