One project uses Wasura bioderagable paper cups that are dyed and look beautiful.  Some of the terra cotta pots are painted with a variety of paints: acrylic, spray paint, latex, chalkboard and more.  There are pots decorated with beads, shells, gems, pebbles and broken pottery.
