Magnetic Race Car Growth Chart

This is a project to create  a fun growth chart for kids.  The theme of the chart is a highway and the height of each child is marked by a small race car.  Abby of Just a Girl and Her Blog explains how she magnetized the race cars, made the board metallic, painted it, plotted out the hash marks and side lines, and added the foot markers.

Abby started out with an older 5 foot growth chart that she got from her sister.  She transformed that chart into the magnetic race car growth chart.  You can easily get a board cut to 5’ x 1 ‘ or 5’ x 1-1/2’ and start with that.  I think this is a really creative project.  Abby provides both instructions and helpful photographs.
