Indoor air pollution can result from cigarette smoke, pollen, mold, stoves, fireplaces, household products with toxic ingredients, and more. I liked this article because it contains both simple, commonsense suggestions as well as some creative ways to naturally purify home air.

For example, one helpful idea is to use a Himalayan pink salt lamp to purify the air in your home. This salt serves as a natural air purifier that pulls toxins from the air and neutralizes them. You can find these salt lamps at sites like Amazon and they’re very reasonably priced. Neat idea!

There are so many different ideas for dog beds in this article by Lisa. Some are very elaborate and others look pretty simple to make. I like the beds made from an end table, a child’s bed and the mousehole. I have a cousin who has a beagle that’s terrified of thunderstorms. I think Coco would really like the Mousehole bed with a curtain you could close.

The walk-up bed is pretty amazing. The link for that one is dead, but the picture itself is pretty inspirational. Fantastic article! By the way, I think the kitties in your life would also like many of these beds.

Do you have odors in your house that you want to get rid of, but you’re wary of commercial air fresheners? Jillee of One Good Thing shares two different methods for making safe and natural gel air fresheners.

The methods use:

Liquid Potpourri

Scented Water (more flexible as far as scent)

She provides a detailed explanation of both methods. Her directions are very clear and the photographs are excellent. Both methods result in a scented gel air freshener that you can put anywhere in your house. There are also no chemicals or artificial scents used. And they look so pretty!

Pallet furniture is extremely popular. The wood produces a strong, rustic look. Wooden pallets are also often free.

Wooden pallets are also very sturdy. However the wood is often rough, and there are a lot of nails holding the pallet together. Knowing how to safely disassemble a pallet while damaging as little of the wood as possible, is important. Carrie of Painted Furniture Ideas shares a number of different ways to disassemble a wooden pallet. Very useful post!
