This is a recipe for apple wine that does require time to make and time to allow the wine to mature. But it’s well worth the effort. As the author, Stacy, says:

“Making Apple Winefrom fresh apples can be labor-intensive, but the end result has been more than rewarding. Since Mother Nature messed with the production of apples on our apple tree this year, and my 5-on-1 apple tree is too young yet to produce very many apples, I was in a bit of a conundrum about how I was going to make this year’s apple wine with little or no apples. So I bought Granny Smith apples.”

So you can make apple wine with apples that you grow yourself, or apples that you buy. Stacy explains which apples make the best wine.

Her recipe is a wonderful mixture of apples, raisins, cinnamon, and other ingredients. She includes each step in the winemaking process and also has some nice photographs.

However, you do need some equipment and a knowledge of the process. For example, she mentions racking wine, carboys and airlocks. Click here to see a demonstration of racking wine.

This is an example of a 5-gallon glass carboy and these are plastic airlocks.

This is Lady Katie’s recipe for Crock Pot Apple Pie Moonshine. ** Please Note ** – This is an adult beverage that contains alcohol. **

Katie offers two different types of alcohol to use in this recipe: Everclear (195 Proof Alcohol) or Vodka(40 to 55% depending on the brand). I think your chances of surviving are much better with Vodka She notes that the serving size for the Everclear version is just 1 shot glass.

This isn’t traditional distilled moonshine. It’s a nice, simple recipe that uses just 3 ingredients. After preparing the moonshine, you put it in canning jars or bottles and age it in a cool, dark spot for 30 days. This is so the alcohol can be flavored with the other 2 ingredients.

Lady Katie also shares links to several of her other moonshine recipes. Click on the How to Make Crock Pot Apple Pie Moonshine link below to see this recipe.
I found this DIY fruit and herb recipe on the Living Better Together site. It’s a nice fizzy alternative to commercial soda. The drink combines cherries, fresh basil and fresh-squeezed lemons with a number of other ingredients. It’s a perfect, refreshing drink.

The Cherry Basil Lemon Fizz also tastes good when mixed with Vodka or Rum. Finally, there is a substitution you can make that results in more of a soda consistency. Very nice recipe. To view the recipe, click on the Homemade Cherry Basil Lemon Fizz Recipe link below.

This does look like a good drink for the first-time at home brewer. The fermentation process for Apfelwein is a lot more forgiving than brewing other wines and beverages.

There is also a youtube video that explains how to make Apfelwein.

Gabe of Life from the Ground Up grew a lot of strawberries this summer. He and his family froze and preserved a lot. But there were still strawberries left. So he decided to make strawberry wine.

This is a nice, simple recipe that uses strawberries, lemon, sugar, yeast and other ingredients. Gabe explains how to prepare the first mix, strain it, store it until clear, and then bottle it. Nice recipe!
