This is Randi’s recipe for homemade bacon dog biscuits. It’s like making a cookie for your dog. The ingredients are all-natural and the recipe is very simple. Randi also includes a link to a bone-shapes cookie cutter.

These biscuits are great for your dog or can be made as presents for your friends who have dogs. You can store the biscuits in an airtight container for up to a month. Even better, you can freeze them.

After reading the recipe, my thought was that they’d be tasty for humans too!

I thought this was a really original recipe. It stands to reason if you’re more conscious about the food and products that you and your family use and consume, you’d also be concerned about the treats that you give your dog. These are homemade, natural treat bones that Mary and Tom made for their dog, Boris.

The recipe uses a fruit and veggie, flour, cornmeal and other ingredients. It’s really like making a cookie. You make a batter, roll it out and cut the doggie treats with a bone-shaped cookie cutter. Mary and Tom tell you where you can get the cutter. They provide a helpful tip about what to do after baking is complete.  Based on the photographs, Boris enjoyed the treats!

That beautiful dog up above is Perry Cole the Great Dane. He’s one of the sweetest dogs on the planet. He’s 5 years old and was born at Service Dog Project in Massachusetts. They train Great Danes to be service dogs for ex-military servicemen and for children and adults with chronic illnesses that affect their balance. If a dog doesn’t have all the qualities they look for in a service dog, they allow a loving family to adopt him. That’s what happened to Perry and he was welcomed by the Cole family in Massachusetts.

A few weeks ago, Perry lost his appetite and had other symptoms. His family brought him to their vet where he was hospitalized a few times. Then he went to a specialist and was hospitalized there for a few days. At one point he only had a 50% – 50% chance of making it. Things were grim. He had a feeding tube put in and went through a lot of tests, including scoping. They’re still waiting for the results.  Some possibilities: gastroenteritis, pancreatitis, IBD.

Update:  Perry was able to go home and has found his appetite again!  But then he developed a pneumorthorax, which is a hole in the lung. The vets don’t know why and want to do a CAT Scan which costs $2000.

The cost for all of his veterinary bills is currently at $25,000.  The family is doing everything they can to come up with any money they can. But they need help.  PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING $5 or $10 or whatever you can to Perry’s GoFundMe.

There are so many different ideas for dog beds in this article by Lisa. Some are very elaborate and others look pretty simple to make. I like the beds made from an end table, a child’s bed and the mousehole. I have a cousin who has a beagle that’s terrified of thunderstorms. I think Coco would really like the Mousehole bed with a curtain you could close.

The walk-up bed is pretty amazing. The link for that one is dead, but the picture itself is pretty inspirational. Fantastic article! By the way, I think the kitties in your life would also like many of these beds.
