This is a guest post by Erin of the Two Story Cottage on the Handmade Home site.

Erin had an old, stained coffee table that was destined for coffee table heaven.  Then she decided to transform the top of the coffee table with chalkboard paint and put it in her screened in porch for the kids to play with.

In the tutorial she shares how many coats of paint were needed.  She also explains how to season the chalkboard top before turning it over to her little Picassos.

I think the revitalized table looks wonderful in its new space.  I would share Erin’s concerns about chalk dust.  They do have dustless chalk.  However, if anyone in your family is allergic to milk, the small amount of dust that is released by this type of chalk can cause an allergic reaction.
